Country Girl

So I had a interesting experience this weekend. I was a country girl. I went to visit my friend Vanessa who lives in a small town. Actually, she told me it's not a town at all. Where her house is actually is not part of any town, because it's out in the country. I still don't grasp the concept of not being part of any city or "town" or even "village." Very strange.

But I had a great time! I got to go on this art tour, where all these people had art in their homes around the county, so I got to see some interesting pottery work, photography, soaps, glass art, etc. It was a very artisitic experience.

For those of you who read my last blog, you'll also know I took a salsa class this weekend. Well that was sure interesting. I think I would do it again, MAYBE, but it was a lot of foot work and as complicated as it was, I'm sure it would get even more complicated.

I also went to a chinese buffet, which I call the "Mini-Mandarin" because it's the same idea as the Mandarin, even the same food almost, but much smaller. Vanessa was saying it's almost better because you're limited to your choices and don't have to decide what to eat, like you do at the Mandarin.

I tried Bruchetti bread, banana protein shake and chicken this weekend. The chicken was awesome! I don't know how Vanessa's mom did it, but it was amazing, and I would definitely have it again.

So it was a good weekend, and now I'm back in full force at school, realizing I have a heck of a lot of work to do, with reading textbooks, planning Bible study, reading articles, starting homework, finishing assignments due this week. Gah! Oh well, a weekend away has it's downfall I guess. You get to come back to a pile of work you should have done earlier.

C'est la vie! I still had fun!

Finding Chrissy

The fish on the left illustrates an important point. Sometimes life gets too stressful and too overwhelming you just want to cover your eyes and swim away.

Okay so maybe I'm overreacting, but this week seems to be going nuts and it hasn't even started yet. I have to pick up my OSAP, pick up my prescription, oh yeah and if I haven't told you about that yet, I went to the clinic to see if I had an ear infection because I've been having trouble with my ear, only to find out I have a throat infection, which is causing ear pain. GREAT! On top of that, I emailed my boss to make sure she knew I had this weekend off because I was supposed to go to Connect (a college/career weekend retreat at Camp Oneida) but hey that got cancelled because not enough people signed up, but luckily enough, I had a plan B. Vanessa from camp invited me up to her place for the weekend, where she has already convinced me to take a one-shot Salsa dance class. I've told her I can't dance, but this was insufficient. Michelle showed me pictures of the ever famous salsa, and needless to say, I am scared.

So now I have to find out bus scheduling to get to Vanessa's on Friday, as well as call Drew to ask if he's going to the reunion BBQ NEXT Saturday to find out times of departure so I can tell work when I'm leaving. AND, I have homework to be done before the weekend so I can enjoy a nice weekend away without having to worry about what needs to be done when I get home Sunday night. AND I have to teach JAYS tomorrow night. AND I have personal stuff to be dealing with now too.

Such is the life of Chrissy. These little bubbles of stress come into my life and then they're gone. The good part about the whole thing is I'm not alone. Thank goodness I have God. I'd be going nuts without Him. "For I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

Anyway, done my rant

Here I am!

Hello friends and family - yes I updated my blog, I have not died, despite popular belief. I now have (almost) daily access to internet, so my blogging should become a little more consistent.

Well, I am officially a third year student who developed a cold her first day of school, and has been feeling a little bit of "blah" ever since. I am taking five courses, which are Behavioural Research, Computer Data Analysis, Fluency in Technology, Adolescent Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. (Which Brad says I will ace no problem). So it's going to be busy but I am very excited to delve right in.

My summer ended with a friend coming down from Simcoe. Vanessa and I did the more naturalistic part of Niagara Falls, walking through the gardens, going on the White Water Walk, Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Aviary, etc. It was a lot of fun, and just a nice way to end the summer.

I've also REALLY enjoyed Brad and Michelle being on holidays. Having them home all the time was great. We watched movies, we played games (we played Trivial Pursuit normal edition, and I actually did okay!), and I also made them an anniversary DVD in which Darren and Larissa were the stars. Brad and Michelle seemed to really enjoy it and that made me happy. I like to make people smile. Thanks Darren and Larissa for all your help. I have a copy for you as well.

I'm very excited about starting up my youth group again. Tonight is our first get together in three weeks, and I have a lot of great ideas. I'm very excited and can't wait to start.

That's about it. Nothing too excited in the realm of Chrissy-ness, but hey, you never know what's around the corner, though in my case, it's probably a wall. (Michelle can back me on that)
